The Shirazi cat is perhaps the friendliest of all kinds. He is extremely lovable, passionate and easy going.

They also need a lot of attention from their owners, if they don't get enough, they will be unhappy.

Shirazi cats also adapt very quickly in a family, and sometimes they bond with a family member and may want more affection and attention from that person.

They are also very fun cats and very good with children. A Shirazi cat is not usually required, although sometimes he may want to sit on your lap for a while while he is resting or sleeping.

One thing about Shirazi is that they need to be caressed all the time, to know that their owner loves and takes care of them. The Shirazi loves to be around humans, and unlike other breeds, they do not require to take to the streets to meet other cats.

They prefer to stay in a safe place where the weather is safe and warm, which is why the Shirazi is considered a domestic cat.

All types of Shirazi cats do not like to be left alone for an extended period of time and therefore need company throughout the day.

The Shirazi also loves to stay clean, as they cannot stand up after their coats are dirty, they are in a bad mood and keep moaning (meowing) until they are completely clean again.

The most common diseases of the Shirazi cat are:

The Shirazi cat is known to suffer from a very common disease: PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease)

PKD is a very fatal kidney disease.

Usually elderly cats suffer from this disease more than young ones, and among the signs that a Shirazi cat has polycystic kidney disease is intense thirst, followed by intense urination, depression, kidney size larger than usual, and weight loss.

If the Shirazi cat is born with the disease, signs of disease will not appear until the cat is between (4-11) years old. For this reason, Shirazi cats need constant checks. Sometimes PKD affects not only the kidneys but some other organs in the cat's body, but this is rarely the case.

This disease causes the kidneys to swell, which reduces their ability to function properly, which naturally leads to kidney failure.

With the late development of PKD, there is a greater chance that a Shiraz cat will die before kidney failure, and the average lifespan of cats is generally around 11-15 years (60-76 years cat) so they usually do not live that long compared to humans.

Fortunately, PKD is not a contagious disease but there is no specific treatment for it, and the best thing to do when a Shirazi cat has PKD is to get rid of it.
